A record from 1930

ਮਹਾਨ ਕੋਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡPunjab’s villages in the Mahan Kosh.

Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha’s Gur Shabad Ratnakar Mahan Kosh, first published in 1930, gives an entry to a village when something happened there — a Guru stayed, a gurdwara stands, a battle was fought. Each entry below is shown as the Mahan Kosh prints it, with the place as it stood in 1930 (princely states, thanas and nizamats included), and a link to the printed page. Where we could tie an entry to one village in today’s land record, that village is named. Where we could not, it says so. Nothing here is marked correct.

Spellings are read from the digital edition on the Internet Archive, checked against the page scan. In the villages table they have a column of their own.
